RMIT University Library is a collection of five Library sites across three campuses; two are city-based, two at Bundoora and one at Brunswick.
The Library has two distinct organisational groups:
- Library Information Services incorporates activities related to reference, liaison, loans, web services and management of study space.
- Library Resources is responsible for the acquisition and organisation of information resources, including repositories, digitisation and copyright. The group also manages the access to information resources. It also works in conjunction with Property Services, ITS and Finance Services.
The University Library serves the entire RMIT community, both onshore and offshore, through an extensive digital presence.
Its role is to select and acquire information resources for RMIT, to organise those resources, and to assist the RMIT community to be able to find and use them.
Liaison Librarians are subject specialists, providing advice on appropriate information resources for research and teaching, at a College, School or program level. They also work across the University to build capacity in research skills development, assisting students and staff to improve their ability to find good quality, accurate information.
Document Delivery Services
This provides access to resources held outside of RMIT University Library collections, including a postal loans service to remote and external students.
The Research Repository provides free, searchable access to RMIT University research publications. The aim of the repository is to increase the exposure and impact of the research output of RMIT University staff by gathering it together and making it available to the world.
The Library has developed a digital repository for hosting learning and teaching materials. This small but growing number of collections are copyright cleared and can be used for official RMIT educational or promotional purposes as indicated on the item record.
The Copyright service provides plain language informed copyright advice to RMIT staff for educational and professional purposes.
