The School of Education supports current and future educators to develop critical skills needed within contemporary teaching and learning.
With over 50 years of experience, the School has an established reputation for providing educational and vocational leadership in creating knowledge for the future.
Across RMIT’s Melbourne City, Bundoora, and Brunswick campuses, the School offers a wide range of programs and courses starting from pre-university qualifications, including certificates and diplomas, all the way to postgraduate degrees by coursework and research.
A global outlook for learners
By increasing global opportunities for students and designing programs to meet the needs of education industries and professions across the world, the School aims to make graduates the most skilled in the industry. In many programs, students can take part in work placements and exchanges locally and overseas, allowing them to implement their skills while they study, and be prepared for the global workforce upon graduation.
Experienced and supportive staff
Passionate academic and teaching staff have strong research skills complemented by extensive practical experience, and are well versed in linking theory with practice. Coming from diverse backgrounds, from local areas as well as overseas, staff are able to provide students and research candidates with global perspectives.
Pathways to further study
An important feature of the School’s programs is the pathways they create for students into further study. Vocational education certificates and diplomas are designed to open up opportunities to move into Higher Education degrees.
Included in the School’s program offerings are the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and a Foundation Studies program, as well as Tertiary Preparation certificates for both domestic students and international students who would like to improve their qualifications and to progress to study at higher levels. The School also provides Education Support programs for individuals who want to work in educational settings or begin the process of becoming a teacher.
Research relevant to global education
Research in the School critically engages with debates about what the development of an Asian century means for education, training and work. Researchers undertake research and create knowledge to understand, support and improve the education industry.
Customised training for industry
The School aims to design new programs for multi-channel, multi-site delivery, with a focus on educational design and technology. As a result, it has widely recognised expertise in providing customised workforce development training to the private, community and public sectors.
