Research clusters in the School of Education
The School of Education has identified four Clusters of distinct but intimately connected research significance that capture many of the challenges and opportunities for education, training and work in the Asian Century:
- Teacher professionalisation in the Asian century
Initial teacher education; teacher professional development; the teaching profession; teachers’ work.
- Curriculum and pedagogy for sustainability and inclusion
Literacies and numeracies in a digital age; literacies and numeracies and vocational pathways/education; science and the sceptics; the arts and humanities in a neo-liberal, technocratic world; pedagogies for success and inclusion.
- Children and young people in the Asian century
Early childhood, gender, sexualities, ethnicities, geographies; health and well-being and development; digital and popular cultures; poverty and exclusion, privilege and its reproduction; families, communities and mobilities.
- Work-based identities and education in 21st century capitalism
Globalised labour markets; the ’end of work’; precarious and risky work; the self as enterprise; workplace and vocational education; transitional labour markets and pathways; social enterprises and vocational education and transitions for marginalised populations.
