The School of Fashion and Textiles is known for its postgraduate research programs and research activities. We offer a range of internationally recognised postgraduate research programs.
Postgraduate research programs
Research programs are aligned with the school’s capabilities. Students that undertake research programs conduct their own research under supervision. The outcome of the research can be a thesis or a project.
- Master of Design (Fashion & Textiles)
- Master of Technology (Fashion & Textiles)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (Fashion & Textiles)
The School also offers a coursework Master of Fashion (Entrepreneurship).
Application and selection process and criteria

Prospective research candidates are also encouraged to contact the Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Coordinator to discuss potential research topics and the availability of suitable supervisors.
The processing time varies for different applicants, and the time of the year. The majority of selection decisions are made during December to March for Semester One and June to August for Semester Two.
The School’s HDR panel assesses applications against the following criteria:
- Strategic fit
- Supervisor capability
You will be notified about the outcome of your application. If successful, you will receive a letter of offer along with details of how to enrol. To follow up your application status, please contact your Research advisor.
