Our research helps communities to successfully manage and prevent disease through efficient health services.
Health services identify health needs in communities, provide services to meet these needs and then assess the efficiency and effectiveness of these interventions.
Our research emphasis is on disadvantaged communities and groups that have the greatest need for health services. Providing access to these services often requires collaborative and innovative approaches, and the development of community-based models of care.
Our activities include:
- Using stakeholder engagement to inform healthy lifestyles, improve quality of life and reduce the social and economic burden of chronic diseases.
- Health risk and health-seeking behaviours.
- Health equity for vulnerable populations in Australia and overseas, including indigenous Australians, migrants and refugees, the aged and the mentally ill.
- Evidence-based evaluation of interventions for preventing, diagnosing and treating chronic health issues.
