Ashley Perry's project documents and reflects upon the ‘autoscapes’ of three major road corridors within suburban Melbourne.
Ashley is interested in site-specific temporalities, the atmospheric spatialities and the physical characteristics associated with the landscape of these motorways when encountered through a visually oriented mode of critical analysis.
Ashley has recently published ’The vacant hotel’: site-specific public art and the experience of driving semi-privatized geographies of Melbourne’s eastlink tollway’ in Elizabeth Grierson and Kristen Sharp (eds) Re-Imagining the City: Art, globalization and urban spaces, Intellect Books, Bristol, United Kingdom, pp. 93–107.
