This project’s core objective was to determine the effect of solid walls and windows on the thermal performance of New Zealand houses.
This research completed a building simulation analysis to determine the adequacy of NZS 4218:1996 and to support the informed development of the Standard during future revisions. A secondary objective of this study was to evaluate the technical robustness of the BPI used in Clause H1 of the New Zealand Building Code, and to propose alternative energy performance metrics for use in the Code, should the BPI prove unsuitable.
