The RMIT Design Archives has active and developing links across the world with other similar collecting and research institutions.
The international confederation of architectural museums is an organisation of architectural museums, centres and collections. icam is dedicated to fostering links between those interested in promoting the better understanding of architecture.
RMIT Design Archives is also a foundation member of icam Australasia established in 2012 to connect architectural and design collections in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2013 Harriet Edquist and Prof. Catherine Moriarty of the Design Archives, University of Brighton UK founded ‘Design Exchange’ an international project to connect design archives and to establish foundations for co-operation in the form of research, exhibitions, knowledge transfer, continuing professional development and doctoral studentships. Projects to date have included an international symposium held at the RMIT Centre Barcelona in 2013, and two co-authored papers at the Digital Humanities Conference, Perth, and icam17, New York in 2014.
Harriet Edquist is external advisor on the Exploring British Design Expert Group, University of Brighton, UK.
