In creating animation ~ the illusion of life ~ the major challenge is to understand
how shape, form and time can be used as a means to effectively realise ideas in a tangible way. This happens not only at a micro level through
the frame-by-frame synthesis of moving image and sound, but also in a larger timeframe
through the dramatic structure of a narrative scene-by-scene. These skills
are also directly applicable to the engaging presentation of content in an interactive environment and to the generation of real-time images
on-the-fly. By exploiting the nexus of time, interactivity and narrative, AIM excels in areas that are distinctly different from those addressed
by many other programs that offer a narrower interpretation of animation and multimedia.
