Before we begin the Web Transformation program of 2012, we’ve fixed a few issues with the website as part of Refresh 2011. There’s still more to be done, but here’s a look at the changes we’ve made so far:

To get you to where you need to go more easily we’ve added global navigation across the site that takes you to key content areas.
Further into the site we’ve reinstated breadcrumbs that show the file path of the page you’re on to assist with navigation. Breadcrumbs are an alternative way to find your way around the site by giving an overview of other pages in the site structure. You may find that some breadcrumbs are quite long because RMIT’s site is large. This will be corrected after the Web Transformation program which will completely redevelop our web presence.
Finding pages using our old search could be difficult. We got a lot of feedback saying users preferred to use Google’s external search, so we’ve introduced Google as the default search across the site. Google only looks at our external (non-secure) pages, so you can still use our old search to find secure content you must login to see. See our search help page for more information.
Quick links are an existing feature that we’ve tidied up. We’ve added a few more useful links based on areas of high use – for students (who are one of the site’s largest audiences) we’ve added links to popular pages including library and campus information.
This new feature is another navigational element that will help you find key pages no matter where you are on the site. It also includes social media channels to let you interact with RMIT from any page.
