Collections

We have a large collection of DVDs, video recordings and CDs which can be found in the catalogue.

This includes a growing number of off-air recordings, which are programs recorded from the free-to-air TV stations. Some of the titles are available for streaming to computers on the City campus.

Online collections

  • Informit TVNews indexes Australian television news, current affairs and selected documentaries from the free-to-air networks with links to the digitised video content
  • Kanopy selected videos in the arts, business, health, media, sciences, and education
  • Counseling and therapy in video collection of video available for the study of social work, psychotherapy, psychology, and psychiatric counseling.
  • Education in video hundreds of special topics and themes and with videos representing many different teaching and learning conditions
  • Theatre in video recordings of live theatre performances and also documentary videos about theatre production.

Borrowing

Most audiovisual titles are available for 7 day loan, except:

  • Sound effect CDs are available for 3 day loan.
  • Reserve titles can only be viewed within the Library.

Viewing

While in the Library, you can watch DVDs and VHS videos, and listen to CDs.

You can book one of the viewing rooms for group viewings and presentations.

Booking videos and DVDs for class presentations

You can place a hold on audiovisual titles in the catalogue. If you need an item for a class presentation, we recommend that you book it in advance instead of placing a hold.

Equipment for loan

Slide projectors and CD players are available for loan. Binocular microscopes are available to use within the Library.
