When applying for a position with RMIT, ensure that you have carefully read the advertisement , position Description and key selection criteria. If you have any questions about the position or selection criteria it is recommended that you contact the person listed on the advertisement or the Indigenous Employment Unit on 9925 0600
When completing your application it should include the following:

Your application should comprise of:
1. Cover letter
A cover letter should include the position title and reference number of the position being applied for along with a paragraph addressing why you believe you are suitable for the position relating to your skills and experience.
2. Statement addressing the key selection criteria
Not all positions will require you to complete a response to the key selection criteria, if required it will be clearly stated in the advertisement and in the application page. If so it is critical to address the Key Selection Criteria. When responding to key selection criteria it is important to address each criterion and demonstrate how your skills and experience relate to the requirements of the role.
For those positions that do not require a key selection criteria incorporate some of your key responsibilities and achievements, which you have achieved within your cover letter.
3. Resume or curriculum vitae
Your resume or curriculum vitae (CV) should include the following information:
- Name, address and all contact details
- Educational/trade qualifications
- Summary of your work history, including company name, position and a summary of your responsibilities
- Key achievements
- Referee details, ideally work related
Recruitment process
