Her own design and made creation was a 1940s-inspired wool crepe suit and millinery.
"I was inspired by Hermes scarves and the idea of chic tailored equestrienne outfits. I designed and made the outfit, bag and hat and then accessorised it with vintage gloves, necklace and shoes," the former RMIT University student said.
Ms Schofield also came third in the fashion final on Derby Day and went on to come second in the Victorian final.
This is not the first time she has had success at Fashions on the Field. She won the national final in 2006 and came second in the Victorian final in 2008.
Karen Webster, Program Director of Fashion Design, said of Ms Schofield's win:
"We are thrilled for Sarah, whose work continues to reflect elegance, immaculate detailing and refined cutting in quality fabrications.
"Graduates from RMIT Fashion Design, like Sarah, are highly sought-after in design studios across the globe, the program providing an international focus, critical exploration of design ideas and high levels of technical excellence."
It was just good timing that Ms Schofield was back in Australia.
"I had to come home from Paris to renew my visa and it was just lucky that it was at the right time for the races. It was nice to be back and at the races again, I really miss it when I am away."
Since graduating from RMIT, Ms Schofield has completed a two-year Masters program in Accessory Design at the Institute Francaise de la Mode in Paris.
After a collaboration with Dior, she was offered an internship there and worked for seven months. Afterwards she worked as an intern at Louis Vuitton, assisting with the handbags for the shows and once her visa is renewed she will return for several months.
