Hamburg Süd and RMIT - An Investment in the future

Eran Salih (pictured right) received this year's best Graduating Student Award. The prize was presented by Michael Fogarty, Hamburg Sud Victoria Documentation Supervisor.

“RMIT is an excellent university which constantly sets new standards,” Barry Thomas, Victoria and Tasmania Manager for Hamburg Süd, knows what he’s talking about.

In the early 1980s, he gained his diploma at RMIT. In his capacity as Chairman of the International Business & Logistics Industry Advisory Committee at RMIT, he works to ensure that the recognised high standard of the university is maintained.

Among the sponsors of the university’s promising young graduates is Hamburg Süd. Since 2005, two students from the field of economics and international trade have received an Achievement Award for outstanding performance annually. “This form of sponsorship is a sound investment in the future of our industry,” Barry Thomas is convinced.

Hamburg Süd already has several RMIT graduates. They include, for instance, Aaron Gridgeborn, Van Nguyen and Andrew Skate. RMIT’s best in class were honoured this year on 14 May. The prizes for the delighted winners were presented by, among others, Michael Fogarty, Hamburg Süd Victoria Documentation Supervisor, and Anna Deguisa of Hamburg Süd Customer Service in Melbourne.
