About Learning Community Partnerships

Our aim is to broker dynamic learning and research opportunities at RMIT University’s Hamilton learning site and through Learning Networks.

We provide opportunities for people to contribute and engage with the world by creating learning experiences for and with people in their community.
We link training and community partnerships to teaching and learning and research.
We interconnect practice and theory through an action research, action learning mode. This includes links to enterprises, schools, other education and training providers, community-based groups and government (Federal, State and Municipal) organisations.

A key emphasis is the development of Hamilton and Learning Networks contribution to economic, cultural, environmental and social development of learning communities. Learning communities include communities of interest, practice, networked and geographic (rural, remote, urban).

Strategic Directions for 2008

  • Develop the vision, planning and agreement for an integrated service approach which will include a research and learning support service for Hamilton
  • To increase business development, partnerships and alliances and widen and maintain existing partnerships and alliances both internal and external to RMIT
  • Strategically link with RMIT Schools and other providers to increase the number of teaching programs (short courses, degrees, postgraduate and VET) that run through RMIT University, Hamilton and Learning Networks
  • To ensure research activity is informed by active engagement with identified industry and community partners in alignment with RMIT priorities

Enablers to ensure we meet our strategic priorities are:

    1. To further develop and implement a marketing and communication strategy that addresses the communication needs of the group’s stakeholders.
    2. To fully utilise technological resources to enable a best practice approach to learning, research and virtual teaming opportunities.
    3. To refine management, reporting and administrative processes to ensure simplicity and transparency in operations in compliance with RMIT University standards
