TAFE programs
We provide staff with support and advice for development and approval of new, amended and renewed HE award programs and design, development and registration of TAFE programs.
We are committed to supporting you in developing quality programs that:
- are student centred in design and implementation and are responsive to the needs of our diverse student groups
- have curriculum that is capability/competency based
- are framed by strategic thinking and sound business planning
- meet the University’s criteria for educational design, implementation and currency
Contact the portfolio learning and teaching representative for your school early in your proposal development process so we can support you and your program development teams by:
- assisting you to scope your program development needs
- providing clear guidelines, proforma and key dates to meet portfolio and university approval requirements
- providing or brokering support to develop your proposal
- reviewing and providing advice on submissions
RMIT’s Policy and Procedures website provides policies, procedures and supporting documentation for Program accreditation, amendment and renewal for local and International HE and TAFE program approvals.
University and Portfolio Approval Committees (HE Programs)
Approvals for program developments will generally progress through the following portfolio and university committees (staff login required):
- School Teaching and Learning Committees
- Design and Social Context - Academic Development and Students Committee
- Design and Social Context - Portfolio Board

Academic Board - the standing committee of RMIT Council responsible for recommending new programs, regulations and policy, and establishing HE and TAFE procedures. Standing committees of the Academic Board in 2007 are:
