Nominations much reach the portfolio by 18 January 2008

Candidates must be aware that they may be required to attend a university level interview in mid- March of 2008.

It is recommended that Program Leaders or other staff discuss applications with their teams and with potential candidates prior to the end of the academic year 2007.

What’s required

  • A complete record of the nominee’s official academic results
  • A supporting statement prepared by the nominating school of the nominee’s qualities in relation to the selection of this award
  • A CV from the nominee to assist the Selection Panel with consideration of their nomination
  • Any additional supporting documentation, including the reason for nomination
  • A statement from the nominee in support of the nomination

Details of Prizes

RMIT HE University Prizes & Awards

  • The J N McNicol Prize is awarded annually to a student who has successfully completed an undergraduate degree program from the Higher Education Sector of RMIT and who has exhibited outstanding academic achievement and leadership potential and initiative. The relative importance of these two criteria shall be in the ratio of 70% academic record and 30% leadership potential and initiative. The value of the prize is $3,000.00, a medal and a prize certificate. The successful applicant will be invited to attend the Honorary Awards Conferring Ceremony to be held in early May 2008 for the presentation of this award.

  • The Institute Award (HE) is awarded annually to a student who has successfully completed an undergraduate degree program from the Higher Education Sector of RMIT and who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential and initiative, and who has an excellent academic record. The relative importance of these two criteria shall be in the ration of 60% leadership potential and 40% academic record. The value of the prize is $3,000.00 and a prize certificate. The successful applicant will be invited to attend the Honorary Awards Conferring Ceremony to be held in early May 2008 for the presentation of this award.

  • The Patricia Guthrie Memorial Award is awarded annually to an outstanding female student who has successfully completed an undergraduate degree program from the Higher Education Sector of RMIT and who has demonstrated outstanding academic excellence and social and community contribution both within RMIT and outside. The relative importance of these two criteria shall be in the ratio of 50% academic excellence and 50% social and community contribution both within RMIT and outside. The value of the prize with $3,000.00 and a prize certificate. The successful applicant will be invited to attend the Honorary Awards Conferring Ceremony to be held in early May 2008 for the presentation of this award.

RMIT VET University Prizes & Awards

  • The Beazley Award is awarded annually to an apprentice who demonstrates scholastic achievement and academic excellence, whilst attitude, leadership initiative and a commitment to quality outcomes are taken into consideration as well. The value of the prize is $3,000.00 and a prize certificate. Selection for the Beazley Award is based on:

    • Performance in the program
    • Personal Presentation
    • Attitude to Study
    • Attitude to Trade
    • Future Ambitions
    • Recommendation of Employer
    • Recommendation of Head of Department/SchoolThe Institute Award (VET) is awarded annually to an outstanding student who has completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma program from the VET Sector of RMIT and who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential and initiative, and who has an excellent academic record. The value of the prize is $3,000.00 and a prize certificate. The successful applicant will be invited to attend the Honorary Awards Conferring Ceremony to be held in early May 2008 for the presentation of this award.
