Fashion at RMIT is a discipline concerned with the equilibrium between conceptual and industry relevant design through the development of innovative design practice. Fashion Design is a creative profession that responds to and addresses constant change through research and development of ideas.

A fashion designer must be acutely aware of developments in materials, social and environmental change, market sentiments, production environments and processes, marketing, promotion and distribution strategies. In responding to these factors fashion designers engage a broad range of research and design methods, visual communication, prototyping and pre-production techniques.

The contribution to the discipline by practicing designers and fashion industry professionals ensures that our graduates are well informed regarding the nature and specific attributes of the fashion industry.
