School of Art Research

Research through Art at RMIT is global in its outreach, exploratory in its nature and connected to communities locally and internationally.

Research is undertaken through creative practice-led projects and publication through interdisciplinary, collaborative and individual enquiry informed by theory.

The school has a reputation for delivering research ideas and practice that have global relevance with quality research being disseminated through exhibitions, performances, screenings and public art projects. Researchers are invited to exhibit and speak at a range of national and international conferences, to undertake international artist-in-residencies and participate in a wide range of research appointments.

Through art practice and theory at RMIT, staff and students will identify and critically analyse questions of society and culture, beliefs, identity, creativity and technologies through material, aesthetic, and philosophical expression.
