The Textile and Design Specialist Centre is managed by RMIT University through the School of Fashion and Textiles. The primary role of the Centre is to develop and deliver training and commercial services to the Textile, Clothing and, Fashion (TCF) Industry. The Centre aims to also act as a conduit for communication and delivery across a range of disciplines and Institutions concerned with training and commercial support for stakeholders throughout the TCF industry supply chain. A particular aim is to provide a mechanism for achieving critical mass and viability in the delivery of specialist training to small enterprises and individuals and to provide companies with greater access to specialist training facilities.
The School of Fashion and Textiles Industry Training group (Enterprise Training, Testing, Consulting and Short Courses) make up the Centre’s core commercial activities. The Centre also functions as a focal point for co-operative arrangements between providers and other industry stakeholders to effectively service the diversity of training needs that are emerging as the TCF industry continues to be restructured.
