Greek

The Greek language is one of the oldest civilisations in human history. It has been in use for over thousands of years and made significant contributions to development of many other languages, including English. In Australia, Greek is one of the most widely spoken languages. In Victoria it is recognised as one of the priority languages in schools. Learning Greek provides students with an advantage across a number of professions including politics, social science, community services and tourism.

Australia has a large Greek community which provides students with immediate opportunities to practice their Greek within a real-life social and cultural context. To further enrich their learning experiences students may also have opportunities to spend time in Greece for study tours or 6-12 months on cultural exchanges.
