Diploma of Interpreting (paraprofessional level)

Languages targeted include: Mandarin, Korean, Japanese (full-time), Dinka, Oromo, Kirundi, Somali, Tedim Chin, Nepali * (part-time)

Advanced Diploma of Interpreting (professional level)

Languages targeted include: Cantonese and Mandarin (full-time), Italian, Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Vietnamese, Auslan (part-time mode)

Advanced Diploma of Translating (professional level)

Languages targeted include: Mandarin, Japanese, Korean (full-time mode).

Master of Social Science (Translating and Interpreting)

Languages targeted include: Arabic, Cantonese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Indonesian, Malay, Auslan.

Additional Information for Prospective Students

Applicants for both the Diploma of Interpreting and the Advanced Diploma of Translating and Interpreting must:

  • be at least 18 years of age on 1 January of the year of application
  • have satisfactorily completed Year 12 or equivalent
  • successfully complete a bilingual selection test as determined by the School; the test may include a written essay and translation tasks, and oral and listening bilingual tasks
  • applicants are screened for potential to achieve at least one of the NAATI paraprofessional/professional accreditations offered by the programs

Local applicants will be notified in writing by the School of the specific arrangements including times and venues for selection tests.

International/Non-Australian Resident Applicants:

  • Are only eligible to apply for the full-time Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Master programs
