The 7th Chinese Bridge Competition

RMIT Language students awarded the Excellent Performance Award.

Organised and sponsored by the Chinese Consulate-General in Melbourne, the Melbourne Heats of the 7th Chinese Bridge - Chinese Proficiency Competition for International University Students, was held on Wednesday 7th May at the Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School.

The theme of 2008 competition was "An Invitation to the Olympic Games and Fun with Chinese Language" and included a speech in Chinese and a performance.

Students from RMIT University, Melbourne University, Monash University, La Trobe University and Deakin University participated in the competition.

Our RMIT representatives were Isabel Robinson (Higher Education Chinese Elective student) and Nicholas Montagu (TAFE Certificate IV Chinese student).

Both RMIT students and students from Melbourne University and La Trobe University were awarded Excellent Performance Awards.

Guosheng Chen, Manager of Language Programs at GSSSP, said that she "received calls from academic leaders and teachers from other universities and schools who were at the event prasing the excellent performance of our students."

One of China's leading televison stations, the Hunan Satellite Television, broadcasted the event live from Melbourne.
