RMIT School of Global Studies, Social Science and Planning – Cert III & IV Applied Languages (Japanese) students on the Japan Study Tour to MIT, Hokkaido.

From 23rd November 2007, 9 RMIT Certificate III and IV Applied Languages (Japanese) students, accompanied by Japanese language lecturer, Ms. Hiroko Ohashi, were hosted by the Muroran Institute of Technology in Hokkaido, Japan, for an 11-day Study Tour.

Local Muroran families generously accommodated RMIT students for home stays. Students experienced a range of exchange activities such as language sessions with MIT student, touring local industries, shopping in Sapporo, and indigo dyeing.

Lectures were delivered by MIT academics on topics such as cross-cultural exchange and the steel industry.

Other highlights of the tour included a tour of Sapporo, a memorable stay in a hot spring hotel and lavish welcome and farewell parties. The Study Tour was generously supported by RMIT Travel Grants.
