The Globalism Research Centre offers a rich research milieu for postgraduate study in the fields of globalism, transnationalism, multiculturalism, nationalism, identity politics and cultural diversity, engaging particularly with the following themes:
The aim of the Doctor of Philosophy and Masters by Research programs are to prepare graduates to be highly qualified researchers in their chosen area of specialization. A research degree involves the production of a major body of work that is intended to add significantly to the scholarship in the field in which it is undertaken. It is by its nature a qualification demanding the development of a high level of expertise in a particular area of knowledge. Candidates are, of course, expected to exhibit a proportionally greater depth of expertise in a PhD thesis than a Masters thesis. In order to maximize a candidate’s ability to successfully complete such a program of extended independent study choosing an appropriate supervisor is essential. By the time a candidate has submitted his or her thesis he or she should have made an original contribution to the body of knowledge in a field, enhanced his or her own abilities, gained a deeper understanding and diversity of experience, and developed the potential for successfully conducting further research in a chosen field.
