The project under this research cluster has been fully funded by Yarra Valley Water. The aim of the project is to determine the most sustainable approaches to servicing growth.
The individual research projects nested within this cluster include:
Sustainability of Alternative Water and Sewerage Servicing Options
Researchers: Tim Grant and Lisa Opray
Tim and Lisa are researching the environmental impacts of several different methods of water and sewerage servicing for metropolitan Melbourne. Their research takes into account two case studies located Kalkallo and Box Hill, which look at options such as 3rd pipe and reticulated systems as well as onsite or offsite sewerage treatment. They use Life Cycle Assessment techniques in order to evaluate the overall environmental impact of the different servicing systems. Their research outcomes will be used as guidance for Yarra Valley Water to assess appropriate strategies for service delivery in the near future.
