Screen Print and Studio Textile Design

This vital and innovative department offers students a stimulating and creative environment on RMIT’s attractive Brunswick Campus. Students explore the textile areas of print, weave, knit and tapestry, and experimental textiles. Studies in all these areas are integrated with extensive design training and business knowledge enabling graduates to work in their own studios or in industry.

Classes have a strong practical and hands on element. They are conducted in specialist, well-lit, spacious and contemporary studios supplied with up to the minute equipment. Our facilities include computer laboratories, weaving, knitting, drawing and tapestry studios, as well as a newly renovated screen printing studio. Students, who range in age from 18 to more than 60, are from an eclectic variety of backgrounds. They can choose to attend full or part time, with day and evening classes available.

The course encourages innovation, self-direction and personal artistic development through direction from and discussion with teachers, many of whom are practising artists and designers with specialist industry and art experience, making the classes exciting and relevant for students.
