Textile DesignBachelor of Arts (Textile Design) is a three-year full time program based at the Brunswick campus. This textile program is unique in providing professionally qualified textile designers for the fashion, interior, automotive and forecasting industries in Australia and overseas. It is recognised as a program which encourages exploration in design and creativity, combined with the technical knowledge and digital media skills for translating textile concepts into marketable products. Students are able to specialise in surface pattern (print) or constructed textiles (knit and weave) and will experience throughout the program a range of projects that will result in a professionally presented folio(s) of work, students will take part in industry-related projects and develop communication, business and CAD skills, which are necessary to meet global industry needs and for successful future employment. MA Textile is a 2-year full time or 4 year part time degree by research with current projects being researched; Regional fashion collections; Resist printing techniques; Colour theory in textile applications; Embroidery in contemporary art; Knitted structures and celebrity branding. PhD Textiles is a 3-year full time or 6-year part time degree by research project. Current subjects being researched are; Digital customisation in printed textiles; Cultural meanings in Japanese textile artefacts and Three-dimensional pre-formed knitting structures.
