About CRRD

"CRRD Street Image" Based in a regional community, the role of the CRRD is to facilitate, produce and disseminate high quality research on regional and rural policy, sustainable regional development, and on issues relevant to regional and rural communities.

The CRRD is a virtual research unit, operating across a number of sites, with Hamilton as its operational centre. Its research network extends and extends across faculty and discipline areas in RMIT and elsewhere.

The CRRD’s primary research fields are currently identified as:

Social and economic development

regional and local governance and community sustainability

public policy for regional and rural development

the impact of structural and technological change in rural regions

The CRRD undertakes consultancy work in areas related to its research interests and expertise, and in areas that add value to regional and rural communities. In addition it participates in consultancy activities in international regional and rural development.

The teaching function of the CRRD includes the supervision of postgraduate research students on relevant research projects, and the design and management of online postgraduate and undergraduate courseware in sustainable regional development, and innovative local government as part of the Masters’ degree in Environment and Planning.
