Media and Communications

RMIT’s Media and Communications unit is responsible for:

  • Internal communication with staff and students
  • Development of communication strategies
  • Media relations and media monitoring: generating media coverage, writing and distributing media releases and responding to all media enquiries
  • Corporate publications: including regular email bulletins to staff and students, the Annual Report, the Experts Guide for media, Council updates and compilation of speeches for senior executives
  • Publicity: promotion of staff and student achievements, maintenance of a library of digital images for media use and expert commentary on major issues
  • High-level web site content: home page content, promotional flags and news items, student news, staff news and information on upcoming events
  • Media services for staff

Media and Communications also provides media training for staff and encourages staff who are experts in their area of research or work to participate in public debate. The unit is available to assist with media-related queries and maintains the university’s Experts Guide for Media.
