Enrolment for international students

What to Bring

For enrolment, you MUST bring the following:

  • Acceptance letter or Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) printout
  • Passport and visa (to confirm your citizenship)

At Enrolment

Upon arrival at the enrolment venue you will be required to collect a Welcome Pack.

It is important to read the information carefully as it details the enrolment process and your responsibilities as an RMIT student.

Conditional Offers

If you have accepted a conditional offer, you must provide International Services with documentary evidence to show that you have met the conditions prior to attending enrolment.

Exemptions/Advanced Standing and RPL/Credit Transfer

If you believe you are eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer (also known as Exemptions/Advanced Standing), you must lodge an application with your school in the first semester of your enrolment period. Do not enrol in the course/courses for which you are seeking credit transfer. Simply complete the RPL/Credit Transfer Form and lodge it prior to the census date. Applications for RPL or Credit Transfer will not be accepted after the census date.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be granted according to the university policy on RPL/Credit Transfer. Please go to: http://www.rmit.edu.au/browse;ID

There are two scenarios regarding RPL:

  • RPL granted prior to the visa being granted: The eCOE is issued to reflect the duration of the program when RPL has been taken into account.
  • RPL granted after visa has been issued: Schools must notify International Services of the credit granted, and the duration of the student’s eCOE will be changed. This changes the expiry date of the student’s visa.

NB: Students who are granted RPL may not automatically study part-time; their program duration will be shortened to reflect the credit granted. They must then enrol in a load suitable to complete within their new, expected duration.

Late Enrolments

Students who are not able to attend the nominated enrolment day should report to RMIT University’s International Student Service Centre on Level 4, Building 108 (City Campus).

International Student Information and Support (ISIS)

International Student Information and Support (ISIS) is a central point of contact for international students throughout their studies here at RMIT. ISIS staff provides individual guidance and advice on international student issues in confidential consultations.

We run programs to support international students when starting or finishing their studies at RMIT. We also support the many Nationality Based Associations (NBAs) on campus and organise RMIT events of an international nature.
