RMIT’s Smart Services CRC is offering a limited number of fully funded PhD scholarships: $25,000 p.a. tax free, with $5,000 per annum research support. The research focuses on consumers and small business using the Internet and other related technologies. There an emphasis on the social, privacy and security issues related to Internet fund transfers and on analysing ways financial institutions can improve access for their customers.
The Smart Services is a research and development partnership between 12 major industry partners and six Australian universities, funded by the private sector and governments under the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centre program.
The Smart Services CRC research expertise covers among, other areas, information security, law, social networks and information management systems. It places an emphasis on the importance of putting the user at the centre of its research.
The successful applicants will be based in the School of Accounting and Law. Applicants will be selected based on academic merit and must be an Australian citizen commencing in 2009. Students with a background in sociology, knowledge or information management or law are welcome to apply.
