About the discipline
RMIT has a sixty year history of service to the Australian aerospace and aviation community. The School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering supports the largest aerospace education program in Australia, and offers students the latest teachings in modern facilities, using leading laboratory equipment and simulators.
The school maintains an international reputation for producing daring and progressive projects and designs, while maintaining a work-relevant education curriculum. Students through project work gain valued “hands on” experience some examples are:
- Designed and flown experiments in the University’s Flight Test Airplane.
- Students gain real practical project work based on latest commercial and military airplane designs.
- Designed advanced composite structures for next-generation aircraft.
In addition, degree programs in aviation business and technology are offered. These programs cover the airline, airport and other aspects of the aviation industry.
Program pathways
All programs offered at the school are designed to facilitate easy entry and exit from one program to another. Credit collected in the apprenticeship or diploma courses, enables you to move into undergraduate programs and postgraduate programs.
