Program description

Gain the software expertise you need through practical, project-driven study in collaboration with real companies and potential employers.

The Master of Computer Science is a software-focused two-year degree, flexibly designed for IT graduates and software professionals, as well as non-computing graduates whose first degree is in a completely different area.

The unique structure allows you to take the same initial courses as either the Master of Information Technology, Master of Computing, or Master of Technology (Internet and Web Computing), with the added benefit of undertaking a further semester of study. You can spend the final semester pursuing a unique industrial software engineering project through Your Software.

Your Software empowers students to work in teams on an industry project with an external business. Management and liaison between the business and students is through the office of a professional software project manager with over 20 years industrial IT experience. This practical work-based experience can significantly improve the job prospects of graduates. Companies that sponsor projects often subsequently employ graduates.

Students who don't wish to pursue an industrial internship may study a further four approved courses or, if interested in research, apply to undertake research methods and a minor thesis.
