Exercise Science is a broad discipline covering various aspects of human movement and physical education, including biomechanics, exercise physiology, anatomy, exercise psychology, sport science, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, athletic training, nutrition, fitness for special population groups (i.e. disability) and the preparation of specialist school physical education teachers.

RMIT graduates gain strong communication skills and a personal awareness of their abilities and attitudes. In addition to an understanding of the exercise sciences and their influence and effects on human performance, graduates gain an understanding of their professional role in the school and/or professional industry setting.

At RMIT University, Exercise Sciences supports:

  • Undergraduate teaching in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) and the Bachelor of Applied Science (Physical Education) programs
  • Research supervision in the Human Movement and Physical Education Honours, Masters and PhD research programs
  • Research activities in Exercise physiology and metabolism, Exercise, physical activity and disability, Strength and conditioning, Sport and physical education pedagogy, Motor skill development, Physical activity and young people, Obesity and young people, Sport expertise and motor skill learning

More information about study and research in Exercise Sciences is available through the Programs and Courses and Research Specialties areas of the website.

We invite you to contact the School of Medical Sciences at any time to discuss learning, teaching, research and related opportunities in Exercise Sciences.
