Australian Universities Quality Agency Audits

RMIT, like other universities, is subject to quality audits by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) each 5 - 6 years.

RMIT was first audited by AUQA in 2003 and is scheduled for audit again in 2009.

The main stages of the audit are:

  • A self-assessment of RMIT’s compliance with the National Protocols for Higher Education Approvals Processes for submission to AUQA in April 2008 – to supplement the university’s self-assessment portfolio.

  • Development of a performance portfolio (click the link to see Academic Standards Framework) for submission to AUQA in December 2008.
  • AUQA visit offshore – January/February 2009.
  • Audit visit – March 2009 (for up to 5 days by a panel who will interview staff, students and external stakeholders).
  • Release of a public audit report containing recommendations, commendations and affirmations
  • Development of an implementation plan to address affirmations and recommendations made, which will be made public 18 months following release of the audit report.

2009 AUQA and AQTF Audit

The 2009 Audit will also incorporate AQTF 2007 provisions for RMIT to be re-registered as a Registered Training Organisation to deliver TAFE programs.

2003 AUQA Audit

In July 2003 RMIT was audited by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA).

RMIT Performance Portfolio was submitted in 2003 (staff login required).

The RMIT AUQA Audit Report was released publicly on 21 January 2004.
