Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Jim Barber, contributes to strategic planning, in particular academic planning and leads the development of the University’s academic plan and related policies. Responsibilities of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor include:
- Management of the academic portfolio.
- Provision of leadership and oversight to the development of policy and strategy as it relates to the university’s academic staffing profile.
- Leadership of the University’s strategy and policy in relation to teaching and learning.
- Oversight of quality assurance in particular ensuring that the University’s organisational reviews and their contribution to the development of improved quality of outcomes and processes.
- Provision of leadership and management to relevant projects deemed as strategic priorities in the RMIT Strategic Plan.
- Deputising for the Vice-Chancellor as required.
