File storing and file sharing websites blocked
Information Technology Services (ITS) is responsible for monitoring RMIT’s internet traffic and ensuring members of the RMIT community comply with the Rules of use of RMIT information technology systems.
As part of this, RMIT's IT systems and networks must not be used for any unlawful activities including violation of copyright. However, it is evident that some file download, file sharing and file storing web sites are being used inappropriately.
These types of sites represent a major concern because they:
- may facilitate the illegal download of copyright material
- contribute significantly to our internet traffic volume and cost.
As a result, a number of these sites are no longer available to RMIT students or staff members. New sites may be added to the list if required.
Note: If you or your peers need to share large files, please contact the IT Helpdesk as it may be possible to establish a server to share larger files.
