About Property Services

Services Provided

Property Services has the responsibility to operate, maintain and enhance all owned buildings, manage leased premises, to oversee construction of new facilities and to ensure provision of associated support services in a sustainable way. Property Services is also responsible for the maintenance and development of the external environment. In order to ensure regulatory compliance, uniformity and equity, Property Services is the only authorised provider of these services to the RMIT community.

Property Services has 120 staff.

Property Portfolio

The RMIT Property Services Group is responsible for managing 425,080 m2 (4,575,523.04 sq feet) of Gross Floor Area over the University’s onshore sites including 3 major campuses located in the City, Bundoora and Brunswick. Across these sites the University occupies 122 buildings.

Of the 122 buildings 84 are owned by the University, 22 are owned by the State Minister for Education and vested with RMIT, 13 are leased, 2 are under occupancy agreements with other institutions and 1 is leased out.

The University’s land holding is 64.2 ha (158.64 acres).

Thirty of the University’s buildings are heritage listed, principally on the City campus.

The result is a diverse portfolio of properties to manage, maintain and operate.
