Cleaning administration
Cleaning administration is managed by Contracts and Services. RMIT University has 10 parcels covering the City, Bundoora and Brunswick campuses, which have been contracted via public tender.
All cleaning issues should be reported via the Property Services Service Desk

A detailed cleaning specification covers cleaning standards and includes:
- Emptying of bins
- Vacuuming
- Dusting
- Telephone cleaning
- Common area cleaning
- Toilet cleaning
- Window cleaning
- Waste removal
Cleaning Standards
A summary of cleaning standards
Bins
Internal and external bins to be emptied daily.

Recycling
Collection of all designated recycled waste occurs daily.

Carpets
Spot cleaning of carpets is performed daily with all areas being progressively maintained. Carpets are steam cleaned on an annual basis.

Telephones
Telephones are cleaned monthly and treated with disinfectant.

Common areas
All wet areas are cleaned daily using a damp mop and approved detergent.

Toilet cleaning
Toilets are cleaned on a daily basis. Toilets are also replenished daily with paper towelling, toilet paper and soap.
A second spot clean of toilets and replenishment of toilet supplies is carried out during the day for high-use locations.

Dusting
All low-level dusting is to be carried out daily. High dusting of ductwork, pipe work and light fittings is carried out over semester breaks.

Vinyl floors
Scuff marks are removed and all vinyl floors are machine-buffed daily. All vinyl floor areas are stripped and sealed annually during semester breaks.

Floors
Floors are spot cleaned, swept and/or vacuumed daily.

Window cleaning
Spot cleaning and removal of finger marks from internal glass is carried out daily. External windows are cleaned annually.

Kitchenettes
Kitchenettes are cleaned daily.

Plumbing
Plumbing maintenance is the responsibility of Maintenance. All plumbing issues should be reported via the Property Services Service Desk.
