How to Apply
GSBL Application Procedures
If you are interested in one of the programs offered by the Graduate School of Business and Law then we encourage you to apply. If you receive an offer but decide to postpone your studies, you can always defer commencement and take up your offer at a later date.
Local Students
Closing date for applications:
- Semester 1 applications: 10 November
- Semester 2 applications: 31 May
Late applications will be accepted subject to places being available. Prospective students are encouraged to enquire about possible vacancies in the program at any time.
International Students
Citizens of countries other than Australia (with the exception of New Zealand citizens and Australian Permanent Residents) must apply for any of the GSBL programs through International Services:

We advise international students to send their applications as early as possible as:
- Some programs meet quotas very quickly.
- Student visas can take up to 6 months to process if you are from a country assessment level 3, 4 or 5.
- Some programs have special requirements which must be assessed before you application will be processed, for example work experience requirements.
Online Programs
Students wishing to study the MBA (Executive) or Juris Doctor online must apply through Open Universities Australia.
Note: the MBA (Executive) Online program also offers commencement in November as well as Semester 1 and 2 each year.
Entry Requirements
Programs within the GSBL have different entry requirements. These are outlined in each program description.
Additional information for MBA program applicants
Before applying for one of our MBA programs please ensure that you have read the information at Which MBA? and identified the correct program for your background, experience and needs.
Students applying for the MBA (Executive) and MBA (Executive) Online are required to include evidence of their work experience. We recommend that in addition to a copy of your qualifications you also include the following with your application form:
- An up to date copy of your resumé
- A personal statement identifying your reasons for wishing to undertake further studies (max 500 words)
- If possible, a letter from your supervisor/manager confirming your current role and also indicating the extent of your managerial responsibilities (eg. how many staff you supervise or the scale of projects you manage)
- Recommendations 2 and 3 are particularly pertinent for applicants who do not have an undergraduate degree qualification and are seeking admission based on their work experience.
English Language
All non-Australian residents and overseas full fee paying students must provide evidence of one of the following:
- IELTS—6.5+ (no band below 6.0)
- TOEFL Paper based—580+ (TWE 4.5+)
- TOEFL Computer based—237+ (TWE 4.5+)
- RMIT English Worldwide (REW)—Advanced Level
- Note: TOEFL or IELTS results are only recognised for one year from the test
Fees
Students are required to pay tuition fees which are calculated annually and are payable at the commencement of each semester. For details of current fees, please see the Fees and return on investment page. In addition to the above fees students may need to meet costs for book etc.
Fee - HELP
Australian citizens and holders of a permanent humanitarian visa are eligible to apply for a FEE-HELP loan through the Commonwealth Government. For further information visit fees
