Lorraine Bridger, the Portfolio Research Grant and Contracts Manager, provides support to staff applying for research grants.
Intending applicants are encouraged to send a draft of any externally competitive research grant application to Lorraine, well ahead of the Research and Innovation advertised internal grant closing date. Applications are reviewed for content, strategy, budget and scheme compliance. If schools, centres, groups or individual academics are seeking to improve the success of research grant applications they can contact Lorraine for one-on one or group training in research grant application strategies.
All portfolio staff who receive external research funding are required to submit the contract for review. Under RMIT delegations all research contracts and tenders must be signed by the PVC Research and Innovation. The PVC Research and Innovation will only sign contracts which have been submitted via the portfolio Research Grants and Contracts Manager. All contracts sent directly to RMIT Research and Innovation for signature will be returned to the portfolio. If needed the Research Grants and Contracts Manager, may recommend and negotiate changes to contracts.
Assistance is also available for schools, centres or groups to undertake further training in research contract issues, such as intellectual property, moral rights, privacy and other related issues.
