The School of Design TAFE has seven discipline clusters that offer an integrated approach to teaching and learning. We operate from five buildings, which are situated on the Brunswick and City campuses.

Within the clusters our program offering includes Building, Furniture, Product, Interior, Visual, Graphics, Printing and we also have a Foundation program. The School has approximately 1,600 students made up of local and International students. This diverse mix of students brings an enriched learning environment. The School is committed to being recognised as a leader in our field nationally and internationally.

We have strong links with industry and professional bodies that all make a major contribution to the School’s direction and in benchmarking best practice against industry standards. Our TAFE programs will prepare students for the workplace with a set of competencies prescribed by industry.

RMIT has a long history and reputation as a dual sector University offering our TAFE students an advantage to be considered to articulating into a Higher Education Degree Program to further their education. Students will be briefed further on articulation over the duration of their studies.

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy your time in the School of Design TAFE. I strongly urge you to get involved with student life within the School and RMIT. There are various clubs and committees that you can get involved with.

Please be proactive in getting to know the many staff across the various programs. They all come from Industry and many are currently in practice, so they offer a wealth of experience for you to draw from.

In closing I congratulate you on being selected into your program and wish you success with your studies in the School. I look forward to meeting in the very near future.

Best wishes,

Keith Cowlishaw
