GSSSP Working Paper Series 2010

The Global Studies Social Science and Planning (GSSSP) Working Paper Series (WPS) is an online resource for papers that are largely works in progress, where there is value in those papers being more widely available before their completion and publication in conventional journals.

The WPS is supported by the Centre for Applied Social Research (CASR). The WPS editor is Susie Elliott, who together with Patricia Rogers, Sara Charlesworth, and Larissa Bamberry form the WPS editorial group.

We hope the WPS will be an important resource for readers and those interested in discovering new directions within in a given field. We also hope the WPS will be of value to scholars whose research would benefit from being in the public domain at an earlier stage of its development. For works in progress, it is envisaged that the WPS will be a mechanism for gaining feedback and an opportunity for exposure prior to or in complement with formal publication.

A working paper might be:

  • an initial exploration of ideas or issues in a research area, including exploration of potential policy implications of those ideas and issues
  • an initial analysis of data (findings not currently available in journals or other publications)
  • a dataset that would prove beneficial in being made available in its fullest form
