About Chinese Medicine

Chinese Medicine at the School of Health Sciences is internationally recognized for its high quality practitioner training programs and a broad range of research projects funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council, Australian Research Council, and other funding schemes. RMIT Chinese Medicine has been a designated World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine since 2005.

Chinese Medicine supports:

  • Undergraduate teaching in the Bachelor of Applied Science (Acupuncture and Chinese Manual Therapy) degree and the Bachelor of Applied Science (Chinese Medicine / Human Biology) double degree offered at RMIT Bundoora with advanced clinical training at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China
  • Exchange programs for students to broaden their learning experience
  • Postgraduate coursework teaching in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine degree programs
  • Teaching laboratories for acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, including the Chinese Herbal Museum, Chinese Medicine Confucius Institute, and the Chinese Medicine Teaching Clinic
  • Provision of clinical training through community Chinese Medicine clinics
  • Consultancy to industry, profession and international organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO)
  • Professional activities of the Chinese Medicine Registration Board of Victoria and Chinese Medicine Board of Australia
  • Research in clinical evaluation of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and public health issues related to Chinese medicine usage
  • Research in herbal quality control and pharmacology of Chinese herbal medicine
  • Research in Molecular pharmacology and drug discovery from Chinese herbal medicine
  • Research supervision in Chinese Medicine Masters and PhD research programs
  • Continuing education opportunities through high quality seminars, international symposiums and conferences
