Research integrity

RMIT University aims to provide an environment for high quality research conducted ethically and responsibly. All staff engaged in research at RMIT must comply with the RMIT Research Code.

RMIT Research Code (RMIT Code of Conduct for Research)

The RMIT Research Code is one of RMIT’s responses to the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research – a guide for institutions and researchers in responsible research practices.

The Australian Code promotes integrity in research and explains what is expected of researchers by the community, as well as providing guidance on how to manage departures from best research practice.

The RMIT Research Code outlines requirements for responsible research conduct in the following areas:

  • Research data and records
  • Authorship
  • Publication and dissemination
  • Supervision of students undertaking research
  • Conflict of interest
  • Misconduct

RMIT will systematically review the University’s adherence to the Australian Code and oversee the development of programs and resources to educate staff and students about responsible conduct of research.
