RMIT Teaching Awards nomination and selection process
All academic and teaching staff are encouraged to see themselves as potential recipients of these awards.
Contact your local college contact to nominate a colleague, or to discuss your potential application. The Learning and Teaching Unit conducts information sessions for potential applicants through DevelopME.
Once nominated, you will be invited to submit an application to the college. Colleges will advise eligible staff of their internal selection processes and dates. You should follow the application guidelines carefully and seek support from your college coordinator to prepare an application.
Each college will conduct an internal selection process, considering all applications and will select one nomination for each appropriate category or sub-category. The nominations will be endorsed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic in each college and forwarded to the University Teaching Awards selection panel.
Following the University Teaching Awards selection panel meeting(s), the chairs of the selection panels will make recommendations as to the recipients of the award categories, then the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic reviews these recommendations with the Vice-Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor will announce the recipients of awards. The Learning and Teaching Unit notifies applicants prior to this announcement.

30 May 2012 | The nomination process for the RMIT Teaching Awards, The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and Research and the Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award is opened. |
1 and 4 June 2012 | Learning and Teaching Unit conducts information sessions for staff through DevelopME. |
Date determined by the college | Closing date for submission of applications to college Teaching Award co-ordinators (all applications must be submitted to college co-ordinators, not directly to the LTU). |
17 August 2012 | Final date for College Teaching Awards coordinators to submit applications to Learning and Teaching Unit. |
26 – 30 October 2012 | Vice-Chancellor announces recipients of RMIT Teaching Awards and Vice-Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award. |
