RMIT Standards Assessment Project: Advancing Learning and Teaching Excellence Forum

This Forum brought together staff with an interest and/or responsibility for assessment across the university. This representation included Heads of Schools, Directors of Learning and Teaching within Schools, Program Coordinators/ Leaders/ Managers, VET directors, managers and program coordinators, and representation from the LTIF project leaders with assessment focus and the recent graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching and Learning.

The Forum was held in Storey Hall on Tuesday 5 August 2008. Forum Delegates received a Pre-Forum Reading Pack that contained a number of draft documents related to assessment policy in preparation for the deliberation at the Forum.

The Forum program outlines the event. Associate Professor Janice Orrell was invited to present her perspective of assessment in the university context and facilitated the workshop session. She is an educational consultant with expertise in assessment who, until recently, was a director at the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (formerly Carrick Institute). Janice’s powerpoint presentation and related materials (Jan’s generic assessment rubric and reference to the assessment leadership article) are now available.
