Web based lecture technologies

Lectopia is an audio, as well as audio and visual screen capture, fully automated system that records lectures. RMIT, Lectopia is a free service and has been installed into various lecture theatres on the City, Bundoora and Brunswick campuses. Portable units are also available for use in non-Lectopia enabled venues.

The recordings can be incorporated into course pages on Blackboard, or compiled into CD/DVD format. Recordings are made available in a variety of formats including streaming, download, podcasting and no special software is required to view them.

In most cases these files are ready for viewing by students and staff via the internet within 24 hours of the recording’s conclusion. Students can then access the lecture recordings from their Blackboard course over the internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week at their own convenience.
