Full list of general entrance requirements for degree programs

The following list covers all the types of qualifications that can be accepted as general entrance requirements for undergraduate programs. Please note that many programs have additional requirements that have to be met in order to be selected for entry.

2008 ENTERs (PDF 110KB)

  • Current or previously approved Victorian Year 12: Victorian Certificate of Education (including VET in the VCE, Higher School Certificate)
    Satisfactory completion of Year 12, including all work requirements for eight units at level 3 and 4, including English (any English, including English as a Second Language).
  • Other Year 12: Interstate
    Satisfactory completion of qualifications deemed equivalent to the approved Victorian Year 12 including English (any English, including English as a Second Language).
  • New Zealand Year 12 qualifications
    Satisfactory completion of the University Entrance, Bursaries and Scholarships, provided an accredited final year English course has been satisfactorily completed.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
    Satisfactory completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma including English.
  • Foundation Studies
    Satisfactory completion of a Foundation Studies program offered by a registered TAFE or private provider.
  • Recognised equivalent overseas qualifications
    Satisfactory completion of a qualification of an equivalent standard to an approved Australian Year 12, including English.
  • Previous tertiary studies
    The satisfactory completion of two university courses (units), taken at any Australian University, either on an award or non-award basis, including through Open Learning Australia. Note: previous year 12 studies may also be taken into consideration in selection.
  • Open Learning Australia studies
    The satisfactory completion of two Open Learning Australia units. Scored or graded results are required.
  • Overseas tertiary studies
    Complete and incomplete tertiary qualifications obtained overseas are assessed by VTAC and/or NOOSR/OQU to determine whether they meet the entrance requirements.
  • Current or previous TAFE studies
    The satisfactory completion of one year of an AQF accredited award at Certificate IV or above, including the Diploma of Further Education.
  • Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning
    The satisfactory completion of the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning at Senior Level. Scored results (Cumulative Performance Measures) are required.

Additional requirements

In addition to the general entrance requirements stipulated above, programs within the University may specify additional requirements which applicants are required to meet in order to demonstrate their capacity for success in the program.

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Specific studies (prerequisites)
  • Attendance at interviews
  • Program-specific tests
  • Presentation of folios, and/or
  • Submission of supplementary information forms.
